Daniel provides advice and support on Business Strategy & Innovation. Daniel has a higher degree in Medicine and worked as a house officer in several Dutch hospitals. After graduating he pursued a career in design and innovation in the car industry. At the University of Warwick he was responsible for postgraduate strategic design programmes. In 2002, Daniel was appointed Guest Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi’an – China. In 2008 he has been offered a visiting professorship at Cranfield University. As management consultant he develops and implements business strategies and innovation processes for client organisations such as Alstom and Unilever.
At Innovations Factory, Daniel uses his unique experience to support individuals and companies in all aspects of developing healthcare products and processes.
Brian Bowen – Manufacturing & Operations Director |

Brian provides advice and support on Business Operations & Manufacturing. Brian is a chartered engineer who has 40 years of engineering experience working in automotive, FMCG and healthcare sectors. This includes 11 years as Manufacturing Director for a healthcare company, being actively involved in new product development. He has also recent experience of working in the public sector for Advantage West Midlands and Medilink West Midlands.
At Innovations Factory Brian supports clients by providing advice and practical support in the areas of manufacturing, new product development and business activities.
Alan Connington – Commercial Director |

Alan provides advice and support on Sales & Marketing. He has over 20 years experience of working within the NHS and its related industries. After qualifying as a nurse in 1982, Alan progressed up through the ranks and in 1994 became a Senior Health Service Manager responsible for the operational management of all disciplines of staff within South West Hertfordshire. In 2001, Alan left the Health Service to become the Clinical Support Manager for Safegard Medical, a worldwide manufacturer and provider of safety medical devices. He was responsible for the provision of all aspects of product training, product evaluation and customer support. Having experience of both working in the NHS at all levels and working for healthcare industries, Alan is ideally placed to appreciate the complexities of the healthcare sector and the market in which it operates.
At Innovations Factory Alan supports companies in the area of selling in to the NHS. He has extensive experience of developing and closing commercial arrangements with global healthcare companies.
Dr Matthew Rooney – Clinical Director

Matthew is a consultant anaesthetist for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and also a partner of Excel Anaesthesia, a partnership of anaesthetists providing independent anaesthesia services. Matthew is very much up-to-date with a diverse range of medical interventions, healthcare products and processes. He has developed and patented an innovative disposable haemoglobin meter.
At Innovations Factory Matthew helps clients to develop creative solutions for clinical challenges and advises on new trends in medicine.
